Statistics & Probability
Statistics is a discipline that concerns the collection, organization, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data. Historically detected by Eastern mathematicians and cryptographers, statistics made its way to Europe in the 17th century, where it broadened to include the collection and analysis of data in general. Statistics is usually introduced in the later years of high school or early years of college if a student has interest in data interpretation and analysis. A useful tool for all professions, statistics is used by data analysts, engineers, physicians and computer scientists -- the applications are endless.
Within statistics, two main branches of analysis are used: descriptive and inferential. While descriptive statistics summarizes data using sampling indexes, inferential statistics analyzes and draws conclusions from data subject to random variation. Both areas of statistics are innately related, and a statistics student’s struggle grasping one area might directly affect their understanding of the other. Our staff at HYE Tutors understands that equally covering both sides to statistics is crucial to mastering the material.
Whether you are looking for help on a current course or preparing for standardized tests, HYE Tutors can help you master your material either in-person, at our Los Angeles office, or remotely on Zoom. We are committed to working with students of all backgrounds and locations.
